December 25th, 2006Title Page for Book I – “Orcs Aboard”
Welcome to the first installment of Emma, an online illustrated adventure-mystery! The story follows spunky and streetwise Emma Verne. Here are some things you can expect to see in the coming months: Space-faring airships, orcs, elves, and dwarves, police raids, sky pirates, political wheeling-and-dealing, clockwork automatons, and other associated steampunk goodness.

“She enjoys eating scones and dismantling machinery with her signature open-ended spanner.”
The most pressing question of the hour is, do you pronounce “scone” with a hard “o” (akin to “hone,” “bone,” etc.) or with a soft “o” (akin to “lawn,” “don,” etc.)?
Really awesome website, David. I’ll definitely check back.
I say it with a hard ‘o’, as does our girl Emma. Some characters say it with the soft ‘o’ however, but they have yet to be revealed.

I’m somewhat confused. What am I supposed to be hooked on? I really like your drawing and concept, but is there more than this title page?
It’s a weekly update, and the first two weeks will be slow, sorry. Please bear with me here! The story starts on the 8th.
